Show apartments in Stevenage set to provoke an emotional reaction

It is scientifically proven that colours have a direct effect on our mood.*

In order to test this theory and examine whether the people of Stevenage react in the way scientists have predicted, Higgins Homes has created two dramatically different show apartments at their development, Ice, on Woolners Way, Stevenage.

Gary Pearce, Head of Interior Design at Griffin House Interiors, who designs show homes for Higgins Homes, comments:

“We wanted the show apartments at Ice to be outstanding examples of Higgins Homes' high quality design, and also to give potential purchasers something a little bit different.

I designed two completely different schemes, one using strong, dark colours with dramatic, edgy furniture, and the other with soft and warm shades with curved and cushioned furniture.

“The darker apartment uses reds, blacks and taupes to create an exciting space which provokes a darker, more sultry mood. By incorporating black ornaments and lacquer furniture, the living area is transformed into a very dramatic and powerful space. Conversely, the second show apartment uses buttermilk shades and soft furnishings to produce a comforting, lighter area.

Details such as gold Venetian blinds, thick weaved upholstery and polished teak furniture, evoke feelings of warmth and relaxation. I prefer the darker, more dramatic scheme, but I think that most visitors will prefer the more comforting space.”

Jeremy Marcus, Sales and Marketing Director of Higgins Homes, comments: “Ice is a very contemporary development and it is consequently attracting a high level of interest from young professionals.

The two different show apartments are a fun example of how our homes can be personalised and changed. It will be interesting to see which of the two apartments appeals most to visitors, and it could even affect the way we design future interiors. Having never developed anything in Stevenage before, we wanted to create something memorable, and I think we have achieved it!”

Show Apartments in Stevenage set to Provoke an Emotional Reaction continued…

ICE comprises 238 contemporary one, two and three bedroom apartments and penthouses. The architectural design is unique to the area, incorporating extensive glazing, staggered roofing and curved finishes. Zinc cladding and aluminium windows are contrasted by buff brick and white cladding, giving the development an edgy modern look.

Internally each apartment offers designer kitchens by Urban Myth, fitted with Smeg appliances, including a stainless steel electric oven, a ceramic hob, an integrated fridge/freezer and washer/dryer. Most apartments have either a balcony or patio and every apartment comes with a parking space in the underground car park.

ICE is located near the centre of Stevenage Old Town, which has a range of independent boutique shops, cafes and restaurants. It is also within easy reach of Stevenage New Town centre, which has a wider range of high street shops and supermarkets.

There are excellent local transport links, with Stevenage mainline railway station offering regular commuter services to London Kings Cross taking under 30 minutes.**

Prices at ICE start from £169,950 for a one bedroom apartment, and £179,950 for a two bedroom two bathroom apartment - less 5% assisted deposit and including fitted flooring.  The sales and marketing suite and show apartments are open daily between 10am and 5pm.
