The judges were impressed with many aspects of Barratt's work and felt that the developer has surpassed itself this year with the high standards of developments on offer. Probably, and most importantly, Barratt has fully embraced the government's sustainable communities agenda, delivering urban regeneration schemes with top quality design. It is among the first housebuilders to participate in the government-backed First Time Buyers Initiative, working with English Partnerships, which is aiming to help more young people to get that first foot on the housing ladder."
