Falkirk students given an insight into construction with Persimmon

Students from Forth Valley College in Falkirk who are interested in a career in the construction industry have had the privilege of experiencing housebuilding first hand at Persimmon Homes East Scotland's Kinnaird-based site, Kinnaird Village.

Giving the pupils from Forth Valley College a real insight into how modern homes are built, site manager Bobby Haston, gave the 12 students aged between 18 and 45 a tour of the development with detailed discussion on the different careers within the construction sector.

Bobby states: “There is still a noticeable deficit in the number of children leaving school to enter employment with a trade skill, which is why we're highlighting among students, the advantages of joining the industry.”

Julie Hyslop, lecturer for Forth Valley College states: “Experiencing the housebuilding sector first hand with a practical talk by one of Scotland's leading homebuilders has been of great benefit to the students who are demonstrating an interest in the careers available in construction.

I hope the day has inspired them to take the next step in fulfilling their career goals.”
